Rasasi Hawas Review 2026: The Aquatic That Made Arabian Perfumery Mainstream

Sara Sakina

Rasasi Hawas for Him is the perfume that proved an Arabian house could compete with the big designer brands on their own ground: a bright, fruity aquatic eau de parfum built on apple, citrus and amber, with strong performance for its price. It is still one of the safest blind buys among aquatic perfumes. This review covers the original and the Hawas flankers we carry at Sara Sakina, with their notes, best seasons and drawbacks, plus the new Hawas releases of 2026.

Quick answer

Hawas for Him smells of apple, bergamot, lemon and a little cinnamon over orange blossom, plum and cardamom, drying down to ambergris, driftwood, musk and patchouli. It is fresh and fruity with a warm, salty amber base, and it is at its best from spring to early fall. The newest Hawas is Gold Digger, which Rasasi launched in August 2026. If the original is sold out when you visit, Hawas Ice is the closest flanker.

What Hawas for Him smells like

Hawas opens on apple, bergamot, lemon and cinnamon, a juicy, slightly spiced burst that reads clean rather than sharp. It moves through a heart of orange blossom, cardamom and plum before drying down to patchouli, driftwood, ambergris and musk. The plum and cinnamon are what separate it from a generic blue aquatic: there is a warm, faintly sweet undertow beneath the marine freshness, and the ambergris base gives it a salty, mineral finish. It is marketed for men, and it wears like a fresh fragrance with an amber engine.

Performance: this is an aquatic that projects, with strong presence for the first few hours and a long finish on skin and clothing. It amplifies in serious heat, so two or three sprays are plenty in July, and the apple and cinnamon sweetness is more noticeable than the blue bottle suggests. Because it has become so popular, it no longer smells unique at the gym. Part of what you buy in 2026 is a crowd pleaser rather than a signature nobody recognizes.

Why Hawas mattered

Hawas made Arabian perfumery mainstream in the West by refusing to be exotic. Where most Gulf exports led with oud, rose and incense, Rasasi, a Dubai house founded in 1979, built a fresh, sporty and contemporary aquatic that competed with designer perfumes on strength and price. For many Canadian buyers, Hawas was the first Arabian bottle they ever owned and the way in to everything else on our shelves. Its success is why the line now has more flankers than most designer pillars.

Hawas Ice: the summer specialist

Hawas Ice is the original run through a freezer: frozen apple, bergamot, lemon and star anise up top, the familiar orange blossom, plum and cardamom heart, and a base of crystal moss, driftwood, amber and musk. The star anise and the mossy base make it colder, greener and slightly less sweet than the original. It is a summer fragrance, the best hot weather wear in the line, and in cold air it can feel thin where the original stays warm. If you already own Hawas, Ice is worth adding only if summer is your main season. If you own neither, pick by climate.

Hawas Black: the evening one

Hawas Black leaves the aquatic family almost entirely: bergamot, pineapple and grapefruit over a heart of patchouli, cedarwood and jasmine, finishing on oakmoss and amber. That is a fruity chypre structure, darker and woodier than anything else wearing the Hawas name, and suited to evenings rather than gym bags. It is also the least expensive full bottle in the line at Sara Sakina and a good buy if woody, mossy scents are your style, but it shares a name with the original, not a smell.

Hawas Elixir and Hawas Kobra: the wildcards

Hawas Elixir is a unisex musk gourmand: mugwort, bergamot and spearmint opening into dark chocolate, lavender and benzoin, over white musk, tonka and vanilla. The chocolate, mint and lavender heart is unusual, closer to an after dinner scent than an aquatic, and it splits opinion, so try it before you buy. Hawas Kobra goes spicy instead: ginger, bergamot and tangerine over green tea, cinnamon and neroli, on a musk and amber base, wearing warm and year round rather than marine. Both are for people who like the Hawas quality but want to step off the aquatic path.

Hawas Chrome and Hawas Reina

Hawas Chrome is the most tropical bottle in the line: peach, orange, mango and passion fruit over a clean base, at its best in spring and summer. Hawas Reina is a fruity gourmand for women: apricot and cinnamon over jasmine, frangipani, orange blossom, coconut and coffee, on vanilla, sandalwood, amber, white musk and sugar. It is sweet and evening leaning, and strongest in fall and winter.

New Hawas releases in 2026

The newest Hawas is Hawas Gold Digger, which Rasasi launched on August 14, 2026, at an event in Dubai. It is a warmer, richer take on the line: pear, lavender, bergamot and mint over cinnamon and sage, on vanilla, amber, patchouli and cedarwood, suited to cooler evenings. Hawas Majestic is another 2026 release, and Fragrantica also lists Hawas Thunder, Hawas Nautilus, Hawas Sapphire, Hawas Lava Gold and Hawas Exotic as new for 2026. Our Hawas lineup guide compares every version side by side.

When a Hawas is sold out

Hawas sells quickly. At the time of writing, in October 2026, the original Hawas for Him, Hawas Fire, Hawas for Her, Hawas Malibu, Hawas London, Gold Digger, Majestic and the gift sets are sold out with us, and they come back periodically. If Hawas for Him is sold out when you visit, Hawas Ice is the closest flanker. For something fresh from our own range, Safi, mixed by our founder, Aymane Zerzkhane, the king of Arabian fragrance mixing, opens on lemon, bergamot and Sicilian orange over vanilla and white musk, with a 5 ml tester for CA$7.99.

Seasonality and value: the bottom line

Every Hawas we carry performs well for its price, and that value, not marketing, is why the line went mainstream. Map it by calendar: the original Hawas for Him is the spring to fall all rounder and the one to buy first, Ice and Chrome own July and August, Black and Gold Digger take over for cold evenings, and Elixir and Kobra are the acquired tastes worth testing in person. Testers are available for many of them at Sara Sakina, Oakville Place (Unit 242), Oakville. Check current prices and your bag total online. Standard shipping is free to Ontario and Quebec with no minimum during our Fall Shipping Event. Elsewhere in Canada and the United States, free standard shipping starts at CA$199 after discounts, with regular rates below that amount.
