The two bottles carry identical note pyramids on our records and sit a dollar apart, which is worth knowing before you spend time choosing between them. This guide sets out what is on file for each.
The shared pyramid
Both eaux de parfum carry the same twelve notes: vanilla, apple and mandarin orange over vanilla, rose, amber, ylang-ylang and spices, on white musk, sandalwood, agarwood and patchouli. Vanilla appearing in both the opening and the heart is unusual and is what gives the composition its sweetness from the first spray. Underneath, it is a conventional Middle Eastern woody base built on musk, sandalwood and oud.

Which Shams Al Emarat should you buy?
For the eau de parfum, the two bottles are interchangeable on paper, so Khususi is the sensible default on price alone. Trying the profile cheaply, or right now: the body spray. At home: the air freshener, which carries the closest thing to the bottle's pyramid.
